Jason and the Argonauts Film Review

Jason and the Argonauts Film Review

"Jason and the Argonauts" one of the greatest movies that I have watched. This movie is good for 13 years old and above because there are some scenes that is not appropriate for children 12 and below, For 13 years old and above I suggest that you must watch this amazing movie.

The Movie is about Jason and the Argonauts go on a amazing adventure to retrieve the Golden Fleece. It all started when Pelias took over the kingdom of Lolcus. After 10 years a prediction is told that a man wearing one sandal would kill Pelias and will take over the throne. And that man wearing one sandal is Jason. When Jason and Pelias met they had a little conversation about the Golden Fleece and they made a deal, If Jason retrieves the Golden Fleece he can claim the throne but if he didn't his mother will be killed.

On that day Jason started his Quest with a help of a group called the Argonauts. Along the way to the Golden Fleece, Jason and the Argonauts had so many challenges like when they met Poseidon, landed on the land of the womens (Lemnos), The Harpies where they met Phineus, and the last challenge is the clashing rocks which I think the most difficults of all the challenges .

After the Clashing Rocks they arrived at the kingdom of Colchis where the Golden Fleece can be found. Jason met the king of Colchis which is King Aetus and King Aetus gave him another set of challenges that no mortal men can do like harness the minoan bull. And yet with the bless of the Gods Jason harnessed the Minoan bull. After he was successful in the kings favor. Aeutus wants Jason to marry his daughter Princess Medea and she is the guardian of the Golden Fleece. And when Jason got the Golden Fleece he want back to Lolchus. And when they arrived Jason's friend told him that her mother was dead. Upon hearing the bad news Jason killed Phelias and Claimed the Kingdom and got married to Medea.

On the casting of the movie Jason London the one who played the role of Jason did a really great job he really gave justice for his role like the other characters especially Brian Thompson the one who played Hercules, His body really suits for the character Hercules because Hercules is a muscular God and Brian Thompson's Body is a perfect fit. But I got disappointed when I saw Orpheus. Adrian Lester's look is not a perfect fit for Orpheus I was imagining Orpheus to be more handsome and more whiter than him but in overall all the characters did a really good job
The Sound effects is good the emotions of the character on the scene is good like where Zeus got angry there are this lightning sounds. And the part where they will go through the clashing rocks the sound effects in the scene is a really noisy waves and cracking rocks and it was good

About the Lighting.. The lighting is good but some of the scene did not make the scene look like interesting like when Medea dreamed about Zeus in the scene there I was expecting the place would be kinda Lighter because it is a dream world of Medea. But in those days where they made that movie there are less high-tech technologies if I will rate the cinematography to 1 to 10 I would rate it 9 and not bad for a movie in 2000 and it was GREAT

The moral lesson of this story is Love your friends your family and do whatever it takes if someone you love depends on that thing . I am really thankful to our teacher sir Marco to watch this very inspiring movie and letting us know how to make a film review.

Jason and the Argonauts Fim Review

The film Jason and the Argonauts was a great movie. The audience would probably learn a lot of values in life in it. Values like perseverance, determination and teamwork. They will also learn a lot about Greek Mythology, how great Greece was back in the days and how politics works in Greece back then.

The film started with invasion of Lolcus, the homeland of Jason, where he luckily escapes together with a trusted soldier and bringing an amulet of Hera that was given to him by her mother. After many years, Pelias, the uncle of Jason and now the king of Lolcus, was told that by an oracle that a man with one sandal would seize the throne so Pelias ordered his guards that when they see a man with one sandal, they would bring it to him and be persecuted. On the other hand, Jason was already on his way to the kingdom when he stopped to help the Goddess Hera who was disguised as an old woman to cross a river. Here Jason lost one of his sandals but he learned from the woman a way to outwit Pelias.
When the guards saw Jason wearing only one sandal they brought him to Pelias to be executed. On Jason and Pelias' meeting, Jason asked his uncle to give him back his throne. Pelias didn't compel with this and decided to kill Jason but when Jason said that he will get the Golden Fleece for him. The later agreed and let him took a group of men to join him in his quest. Jason got of group of strange men which was named the argonauts.

On their way to the Golden Fleece, Jason and the Argonauts Battled out Poseidon, which was sent by Zeus, the temptations of Lemnos, where they were nearly tricked by the army of woman, the Harpies, where they saved Phineus, and lastly the Clashing Rocks, where they saw and saved the son of the king of Colchis. After all these trials they arrived to Colchis, were Jason was given another sets of trials. He was tasked by king Aetes to battle out the bull with bronze hooves and horns and defeat the army of dragon-tooth. In both tasked Jason was the victor but king Aetes was naive and doesn't want the fleece to leave his land so he decided to marry Jason to his daughter Medea. In this way the fleece would still be on his side but Jason needs to get back to Lolchus for his mother would be persecuted if he will not return, so he fought the guardian of the Fleece. After aquiring the fleece Jason returned to Lolchus, where then Medea tricked Pelias to his death. The death of Pelias made Jason the king and then he married Medea and lived happily ever after.

The actor Jason London, who played the role of Jason in the movie, did rather a good job in his role. He was able to show Jason's willingness and determination to acquire the Golden Fleece. He was able to absorb the role Jason because he has that leader-like attitude yet an innocent one which he used to make his character more realistic. The other characters also gave justice to their roles. The one who played Hercule's role, Brian Thompson, was suited for his role for his body built was perfect for someone who plays the role of a very strong manlike Hercules. I was a little bit disappointed to the costumes of the characters, especially the soldiers, they only have like two differences, the helmet and the shield I was a bit confuse on which army a soldier was.
For the editing, I can say that they did a good job. The transitions where sometimes good but sometimes bad. One transition that was very good for me was the transition of the young Jason to the grown up one that was having a flashback. Some transitions were bad because sometimes I'd be surprised that one scene would suddenly shift to another even though the idea was no yet delivered clearly.
The sound effects were also good. The background music sets up the mood of the scenes. The other sound effects were also good. The roar of monsters, the waves, the clashing of swords and many more were great. They were in sync with the scenes and the movements of the character.
On the contrary, the lighting of the movie was a bit dull and a bit lifeless. The graphics are also bad. The monsters like the bull, the titan, the harpies and many more looked like computerized and unreal. Another thing about the graphics that made me disappointed was the fight of Jason with the dragon-tooth army. His moves were so scripted and not realistic. I don't understand why they have poor animations and graphics because during the year 2000 technology was already in a streak and it was already improved. I just can't understand that.
To conclude the movie was great. I'm thankful to our teacher, His Gwaponess Sir O, that he let us watch this movie. I learned about how to make a movie review and on the same time learned alot about Greece and its Myths. This was really a great movie and it was a great experience.

JASON AND THE ARGONAUTS

Jason and the Argonauts is a great movie and I would say you should give it a time and watch this fantastic movie. It gives the viewers a twist of action and adventure. The story is about the quest of Jason, a mortal, to retrieve the Golden Fleece. The movie is a must watch because of its unique rendition of the original Greek myth of the quest of the Golden Fleece.

The story is about bravery and courage and what one can do to save someone he/she loves. The story starts when Jason’s father was killed by his own brother for him to rule the kingdom. When he was about to kill Jason, one of the guards rescued Jason and they escaped the kingdom. When Jason grew up, he searched for his mother and discovered that his mother married his uncle and became the queen. His uncle then had a greed for immortality and believed that the power of the Golden Fleece could fulfill his desire. He ordered Jason to find the fleece in exchange for his mother’s life.
He recruited men from the kingdom, like Hercules, Orpheus, and Atalanta.

On their journey, they encountered many trials. They reach Colchis, home of the Golden Fleece. They meet Medea, the daughter of the king. Medea was a sorceress, and because she liked Jason, she helped them on their quest, betraying her own family.  Jason's last challenge was to get the fleece from a dragon that guards the fleece. Of course, he succeeded.

When they got back home Jason learned that his uncle had tricked him so Jason killed him. He then
          marries Medea.

The actors were good at playing their roles, especially Jason London, who played Jason. He was able to portray Jason very well. Also, I didn't see any actors or actress that had a flaw on their characters. I liked the costumes of the characters. It was really like the old Greek clothes and they looked realistic.  Like the kings looked like kings because of their extravagant clothes, and Medea looking like a real  sorceress and princess because of her dress and unique makeup.

The scenes were fine and they were clear and easy to understand. Some scenes are not really appropriate for children, like one scene from the island full of women, where the queen of the island made love to Jason.
The sound effects were compatible with the scenes and they were in good timing. When they were in
the sea, it sounded like they really were sailing. Even the challenges like the harpies and the bull, the               sound effects were good, though not perfect.
The lighting was good because they kept the lighting bright and easy to see. The film quality was also             good, and the camera angles were just appropriate for the scenes. Overall, the whole movie was good           and is a must watch.

There are many lessons we can learn from the movie. We shouldn't choose our own selfish needs over our family, like what Pelias did. Also, we should do our best especially if the people we love depends on us. I think the movie was great and it captures the original Greek myth well.
